Every since I purchased my phone 3 months ago, I get System updates notifications on screen. If you accept and download and install, within minutes it will tell me I have a new update. How do I turn this off?

Since it's asking you to update you have downloaded the update that enables you to upgrade. Under the "Download" tab scroll down until you find "Motorola Update Services" and select it. You'll have three options at the top, "Force stop, Uninstall Updates and Disable." Select "Disable." It will then prompt you "Delete data and disable app?" Select "OK." It will then ask "Do you want to replace this app with the factory version?" Select "OK." You will no longer be asked to upgrad

Where is a download tab?
Settings>apps>download
Do I then need to enable the Moto app again once I have returned it to factory setting?
My phone e5 (1 month old) is continuosly asked (every 2 days) to update 27.91-176-1-9 even though it has uploaded a later version.
How can I do this in 2020? There is no "download" under settings>apps>. Thank you!

Hi,
In the last 2 year I encounterted endless intolerable Constant System Updates notifications which were ended with failure any time I agreed.
To be more accurate, my phone is Motorola Moto g 4th generation (XT1625, MPJ24.139-64 (android 6.01) Amazon edition).
Motorola/Lenovo suppport team did not answer my requests and non of the alternatives offered in the internet helped me.
Every once in a while I tried to find a solution and here is a workaround I found this week:
If you follows the instructions of dosangst in “'''Moto G Amazon Edition - Remove app that displays ads with one simple command''' “
and replaces the adb shell command
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.amazon.phoenix
with
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota
you will cease the update notifications!!
Further explanation: com.motorola.ccc.ota is the system/programmer name of “motorola update services “ which you see if you go to Settings>>Apps & notifications>>3 dots (Top right corner)>>Show system>> ( Scroll down) till you get "Motorola Update Services app".
Notice thuogh that this is only a workaround of the real problem (of failing to upgrade your firmware)
and that you will not get a firmware updated to the newer versions (of android 7 - Nougat and so on).

I actually figured out my issue. We purchased my phone directly from Motorola. As such when I received my phone it did not come preinstalled with all the updates.
After like the 6th one I realized they were different and just continued to allow them. After like the 20th update it was finished.
Thats what i figured might be going on with mine, I'll just keep at it. Thanks.
Uninstall command does not work on my Z2 Force. But, disable does! I needed to disable it because every 24 hours it would prompt to install a security update and always fail if I say yes because it is an unlocked phone and will not pass security check.
Here's the full command to run:: adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota ,,,, that's it.
I have so many pre installed apps when I purchased my phone from Verizon, that although I'm supposed to have unlimited everything, I still have to buy more? I have different big installers on this Motorola phone that I know exactly how my acct is getting breached all of the time?! I barely now any of my passwords anymore for changing them every other day? This really sucks! And if you stop notifications then they do something to mess up your phone? Like Motorola shut down my Internet connection cause I didn't want to update their 50 apps they wanted me to update first thing this morning? And this is supposed to be my phone?! Shoot,new know whose phone this is?! I'm just paying the bills! The world needs to step back and punt! Lol! Beth

None of this worked for me. I'm still getting a full screen security update notification interrupting my phone about every 2-5 minutes. Neither Motorola support nor my provider (T-Mobile) were able to help (pauses to laugh at the idea of TMobile CS being helpful). I disabled Motorola notifications and restarted my phone. I got an update notification as soon as it powered back on. I really couldn't care less about this update, and want the notification to stop. This has to be some kind of harassment. Edit:. When I go settings>apps> there is no three dots button on that screen. Is there another way? Motorola/Android/TMobile phone.

no….sorry folks……none of the above. Mine is a Motorola e5 Play same bulls****t. Tried it all very frustrating. I tried the 25 times an idiot approach & still nothing. Motorola Update Services app? Frozen buttons no choices. Threw the phone into the shredder & that worked :-)

There are three dots in top right corner when your in apps click and click show system. You should see downlaods then.
I can not find this i have some motorolacapps but none named update services. I also dont have 3 dots. Amdroid 8.0.0
I clicked the 3dots and show system then I scrolled down and saw download manager and downloads
Are you sure it's the same update? I purchased my phone directly from Motorola. Because of that none of the updates were installed on my phone.
It took like the 5-6th time before I realized each update was different. After like the 12th or so one it finally stopped and had gotten all the updates.

Yes, it's the same exact thing every single time, I would know, seeing it constantly :( People keep saying to disable something called 'motorola update service' but I don't have the same interface as others, so am not sure how to follow the steps. I can go to settings>apps& notifications, but I don't have a 3dot button on that screen or an option to 'show system apps', so I get stuck there. I went into my app list, and there wasn't one called 'motorola update service' in the list? So I disabled Motorola Notifications instead, with no discernable effect. I'm still getting the update nonsense plus regular notifications.
I have the exact same problem, and it's for the security update from November. long press the notification in the notification bay and select settings in blue. it'll take you to Motorola update services. for some reason disable button was disabled for me, so I tried force stop. upon restart I got a flash of the update screen but I home buttoned away from that $@$* and now it seems to be gone. hope this helps!

I stumbled across this when I replaced my broken z4. When the notice comes up that an update is available. Notice on the left side of the notice there is a little icon. Touch that icon for a few seconds. It will ask if you want to continue receiving the notice. Click no. It will say that you will no longer receive the notice.
It's still doing this for me. I tried all the options and nothing. I have a Moto e6 plus can anyone help?

A sure way to stop getting messages about security updates or OS updates ready to download/install, you have to disable the ‘Motorola update services’ app because that is what you see displaying these messages.
You cannot do this through the menus on the phone, the disabled button is grayed out.
You have to enable developer options within settings and then within that, enable USB debugging. This is done so you can tether the Motorola phone to a PC. USB mode has to be in photo sharing mode, not file transfer mode.
Get Android SDK tools so you can run the ADB command from a DOS window. It's around a 25 MB download in a zip file.
Then open up a command prompt with administrative privileges. Type adb devices to make sure it sees the phone. If not, you need to acknowledge a request on the phone that should pop up.
Next, type, adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.motorola.ccc.ota ,,,, that's it you are done. You can go back into settings and your full list of apps and you will see that Motorola update services is now disabled!
Now you will no longer have that pesky OS update notification every 24 hours like I did because my phone was unlocked.

As of 4/7/23 this does not work. I'm on a Moto Edge running Android 12. Upon issuing the adb command, I get "Failed: package is non-disable". Seems like they've patched the ability to remove the package...

Found this by dumb luck: Under settings/apps click the three dots in the top right corner then select see all apps. You'll find the download app hidden there. I just disabled it so can't tell you if it worked or not, but sure hope so. (There is also a Moto Download App but it WON"T let you disable .) The constant downloads are ANNOYING!

For Motorola e5 play I went to settings /notifications on top right corner there is 3 dots press show system then scroll down to Motorola update services touch it and u can turn it off. Haven't had it interrupt me since. CHEERS!

For my Motorola E6 play I found it under: Settings --> Apps and Notifications --> Show All Apps --> Press 3 Dots in upper right corner --> Show System --> Motorola Update --> Inactivate

This was driving me crazy. It's incredible how many hidden system apps that run in the background. No wonder the phone is super slow
Really crappy design. On the other hand they are probably available very cheap since most people are not willing to do the hard work. I bought mine very cheap, and it took me a good while to block and inactivate all crap (what's possible). I also learned that most power of phone goes into background programs that does things that very few knows. It would not surprise me if there is another hidden layer of background programs. A bit horrifying and it should definitely not be this way. It's very big brother and collect all your data -ish. Imagine all that goes on in the background of a new "premium" high end phone.
